Whatever your skills or experience and however much, or little, free time you have to give, we’ll have a role for you.
Every donation goes towards helping some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
Giving back to your community through volunteering is incredibly rewarding. We wouldn’t be able to do the work we do without our amazing volunteers! By volunteering you can learn new skills, meet new people and help those in need.
Volunteering can take up as much or as little time as you like. We have a variety of volunteering opportunities to appeal to everyone.
Due to the nature of the clients we work with, we can only accept volunteers over 18 years old.
Our charity shop provides much needed funds for us to be able to run our day centre. Whether you are interested in retail, are an avid charity shop shopper or enjoy organising, our charity shop is the place for you!
Our charity shop is a great place to learn new skills such as working a till, pricing and stock management. As well as being a great opportunity to socialise and give back to the community.

We are always looking for volunteers in our day centre. Whether you want to develop your skills in cooking and feeding large groups, are interested in gaining experience working with individuals with multiple and complex needs or want to help those in need we have something for you!
We are open 7 days a week to help the most vulnerable in our community so even if you can only give an hour or two it will be much appreciated!
If you could like more information please call: 01934 641880 or email us at manager@somewheretogowsm.org.uk
If you cannot commit to volunteering on a regular basis but still want to help out volunteering for SWEP might be the opportunity for you! During times of inclement weather, we are authorised by North Somerset Council to provide overnight accommodation. This is primarily during winter, but can also occur during extreme heat, storms or other weather warnings.
If you are able to do ad hoc evenings, nights or early mornings then sign up to be one of our SWEP volunteers!
We are proud to be able to offer work experience and placement opportunities to individuals over 18 years old. It can be difficult to find experiences working with people with offending history, multiple and complex needs, addiction and mental health issues.
We work with a range of clients and can provide tailored opportunities for individuals to develop their skills.

Making use of volunteering days as part of a team can be a rewarding opportunity. It allows teams to build their resilience and skills without the dreaded ‘team building’ activities. We often have projects running such as building, painting or organising that large groups can participate in together.
Alternatively, groups can organise donation or fundraising opportunities such as collections of food or toiletries, organise a bake sale or complete a sponsored activity to support Somewhere to Go!

‘I am studying social work at university but was struggling to find a placement. I found Somewhere to Go and was able to complete my placement with them. I was able to get experience of individuals with lots of different needs and felt like I got more experience than some of my friends who got placements in particular sectors’.

‘I had been out of work for a while and was struggling to know what area of work I wanted to go back into. I started volunteering with Somewhere to Go 6 months ago to develop my skills and see what interests me. I have learnt a lot about what I like to do and what I don’t like to do. I really enjoy working with people and think I would like to retrain as a counsellor. Somewhere to Go has provided me with training courses which I am able to put on my CV as well as being a reference for future employers’.
