What Somewhere to Go offers
We offer a broad range of services, but to put it simply we offer support in three
different ways:
Somewhere to Go is open 365 days a year. We are open as a drop-in service every day for anyone over 18 for whatever reason you need us. We provide non-judgmental support and advice on a variety of topics – and if we don’t know the answer, we know who does!
We can provide generalised support via phone however, to complete any referrals or offer support tailored to your unique situation we need to meet you in person.
When you come to see us for the first time, we will complete our Initial Registration Form with you. This is so we can understand a bit more about your situation and how we can help. The Initial Registration Form takes around 15 minutes to complete and asks questions on a variety of topics. They might not all seem relevant to you in the moment, especially if you come to us for specific support. However, we find often we can help you with more than you think, hence why we complete the form to find out more!
After we have completed your Initial Registration Form, you are free to use the service as much or as little as you like. Every time you come into the service, we will ask you to sign in with your name to a member of staff, just so we can see who comes in and out. If you need support from staff there and then we can start supporting you with signposting or referrals or if you need a shower or a meal, go ahead!
We offer a broad range of services, but to put it simply we offer support in three
different ways:
We offer support to help people meet their basic needs. This could be because they are homeless, on low income, are struggling to manage independently or for any other reason.
We offer support, referrals and signposting on a variety of topics. We can also support you to attend appointments either in person, by video link or by telephone. We understand that sometimes professionals talk in ways that might not make sense or you might need someone to take notes to remind you after the appointment what you need to do. If you need, we can keep a note of when your appointments are to remind you.
If you need somewhere safe to go, then you are welcome to join us whenever! We are an open space where you can meet new people, chat or just relax. We have a TV, books and games for you to enjoy.
The StreetLink is not a specific service, but it is an alerting system which lets local services know about someone who is rough sleeping. You can complete a StreetLink for yourself if you are rough sleeping or for someone else if you see them rough sleeping.
The StreetLink can be used anywhere in the country to connect people who are rough sleeping with services in their area. In North Somerset, StreetLink referrals go to the YMCA Homeless Outreach Team to go and check on the individual who is rough sleeping and offer them support and to North Somerset Council’s Homeless Prevention Team for information.
